Gone are the days when Leicester employed 30,000 people in the knitting industry. That is why the expansion of UK knitwear firm B S Attwall is a significant event. Founded in 1972, the company recently acquired a six acre industrial unit in the city, 130,000 sq ft of which will be used for knitwear manufacturing and related office space. The site was chosen to accommodate a growing team, with the aim of reaching vertical integration and attracting the talents of fabric knitters and textile printers. The concept of a textile village is something the family business has in mind.
