Thai textiles shift to value added

As Thailand continues to flex its muscles as a competitive force in the global textile industry, the focus is shifting from low cost products to value added textiles, utilising indigenous natural resources. "Thailand has a new role in the world. We have raised the minimum wage and the cost of production is higher so producers need to move towards the value added product-a shift up," explains Anchalee Meepadung of the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Royal Thai Government.
