Fabric for Fashion addresses the well perceived need to enable students and fashion designers to understand the importance and main features of fabrics. The authors are Clive Hallett and Amanda Johnston, themselves intimately bound up in the fashion industry as academics and designers. Speaking as someone who has written on the subject for a lay audience,~* I find myself agreeing with the authors when they identify the fact that although fashion begins with fabric, most fashion students, and even fledgling designers, do not have the requisite in-depth knowledge of the medium which they are about to rely on for the expression of their creative talents.
