What is the current level of wool production/exports in China? China's annual wool output is around 300,000 tonnes, with annual exports of approximately 100,000 tonnes. Chinese woolgrowers produce 10,000 -20,000 tonnes of high quality wool a year. Even so, more and more herdsmen are reluctant to produce wool, owing to robust demand for mutton. This is combined with the additional processing needed to remove dirt and grass seed that can lead to a discoloured fleece.
