Peru's alpaca industry is looking to boost its international profile and position alpaca as a high-end fibre to rival cashmere, following the return of the Alpaca Fiesta trade show after a seven-year absence, and the launch of Alpaca Moda, a new fashion event. The fifth Alpaca Fiesta, held in Arequipa from November 10-15 alongside Alpaca Moda, was the first to be organised as the result of a joint effort between the International Alpaca Association (IAA) and Peru's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR), together with Peru's exports promotions body PromPeru.
