A newly published draft interim technical report on the proposed Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) for the first time puts numbers on the likely impact on the textile and clothing industries in Europe and the US. The 400-page report, published by independent consultancy Ecorys, is in the form of a Sustainability Impact Assessment (SIA) for the European Commission, and its publication marks the beginning of a consultation phase. It sets out to highlight the opportunities TTIP could create for people and businesses across Europe and provides different scenarios for "less ambitious" and "ambitious" outcomes of the trade deal currently under negotiation.
