Growing demand for customised products and rapid response manufacturing can provide a major boost to the reshoring of textile and garment production back to the UK. And software developed by British knitwear startup Unmade can help unlock the industry's potential to meet that demand. That was the key message delivered by Hal Watts, CEO of Unmade, to delegates at the opening conference during the UK textile and apparel sourcing showcase Meet the Manufacturer, held in London on May 25-26. Watts explained that the next phase of the textile and garment industry globally is focused on meeting demand for the personalisation and customisation of clothing. He noted that 30% of Nike's online sales are now for customised products.
