Filo, held twice a year, has carved out an increasingly important space for itself in the agenda for trends and yarns. It covers both weaving and knitting, as spinners address the connections for holistic designing, tying up the whole offer across the spectrum of fabric for fashion and workwear, knitwear, accessories and furnishings. Filo now also exhibits at Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics as part of the Milano Unica grouping (see pages 30-31), and takes an increasingly international stance. The exhibition for spring/summer 2016/17, held in Milan on September 30 - October 1, was an upbeat affair as far as colour and presentation was concerned. More spinners exhibited, visitor numbers from Europe were up, and several groups of buyers came from the Far East. Exhibitors were generally pleased with buyer reaction, though not euphoric about prospects. "Things are still quiet. It seems that everyone is waiting," said one exhibitor.
