Snow swirled around the Seattle Yacht Club docks the evening of January 31, 2002. The 88-year-old GLORYBE was one of several yachts tucked under the dock's roof when one vessel burst into flames. Fed by exploding propane and fuel tanks, the roaring inferno soon reached GLORYBE. As the roof collapsed upon her, she quickly burned, rolled, and partially sank, probably saving her from total loss. Thirteen yachts sank that night and many others suffered damage.
