Thin-Water Cruising

Last summer, a group of friends and I were anchored up in Perry Creek, a slice of water that cuts into the Penobscot Bay island of Vinalhaven. We were sailing in a 34'yawl drawing 4'9". As we entered the anchorage, we passed a gaggle of moored boats at the top of the creek and kept going, seeking swing room and solitude. We dropped the hook as far in as we dared, with easy dinghy access to both of the creek's shores.
