Private Wireless Could Get Access To ITS Spectrum

Private wireless users, but not commercial mobile users, could get access to spectrum set aside for use in intelligent transportation systems (ITS) under a plan being proposed by ITS America. Last October, ITS America, an industry group that advises the federal government on ITS issues, submitted a report to the Federal Communications Commission on deployment of short-range communications for transportation use in the 5.9 GHz band.
