David Hawley didn't set out to become one of the world's leading experts in shipwreck excavation. Back in 1988, he was just a refrigerator repairman hoping to make a buck by salvaging a sunken steamboat. But that changed after he actually found the Arabia (shown above), a paddle-wheeler that went down in the muddy Missouri River in 1856.
