Drives and controls for rod and bar production

Anshin Steel Industries manufactures a range of rod and bar, as well as light sections, from purchased billet at its foundry works near Selangor in Malaysia. When the company needed a proven and reliable drives and controls system for its hot rolling combination merchant bar and rod mill, the company consulted Control Techniques' Drive Centre in Malaysia. This article describes the solutions provided, including the main mill controls and auxiliary drives, and goes on to describe similar installations.
