ATAC is proud to announce that the theme of its Spring Event Reception this May 29 in Ottawa will be Women and Aviation. ATAC wishes to both celebrate women in aviation and promote aviation as a career for women. The Canadian aviation industry has always fared poorly in attracting women. Today, in the Canadian fixed-wing world, women account for as little as 6.6% of Commercial Licences and 5.2% of Airline Transport Pilot Licences. Their presence in the helicopter industry rates even lower, representing 4.1% of Commercial Helicopter Pilot Licences. Women represent 14.8% of Air Traffic Controllers and only 2.6% of Flight Engineers. To our knowledge women do not make up a large percentage of aviation industry senior management.
