Two-Block Fox Squadron continues keeping busy with Zoom meetings and spreading the word that there is a VSO by the name of the Association of Naval Aviation. The video presented at our May Zoom meeting provided a detailed history of the British Vickers Supermarine Spitfire, the iconic fighter of the Royal Air Force in World War Ⅱ that saw action in all theaters of the war. We also learned why the Spitfire failed in one arena...as a Naval Aviation aircraft, because its design was not as compatible with carrier landings as was hoped for. Between out May and June meetings there was Flag Day. Our Squadron helped promote an event honoring Old Glory in Simi Valley that was sponsored by the local VFW Post and the Marine Corps League Detachment. One of the many highlights of the event was when all the Vietnam Vets in attendance were invited on stage and given 50th Anniversary pins courtesy of the Department of Defense as their way of saying "Welcome home and thank you for your service." Speaking of Vietnam veterans, for our June Zoom meeting we were very honored to present Colonel Gary Bridges, US Army (Ret), a writer of military action novels under the pen name of Matt Jackson.
