A famous footballer who once told US basketball star LeBron James to stay out of social and political issues has weighed in on onshore wind development in Sweden. AC Milan and Sweden footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who reportedly owns more than 10km~2 of land in wind-rich Jaemtland county, central Sweden, tweeted: "I question the wisdom of destroying this beautiful nature with a large-scale wind power industry." His tweet was shared more than 750 times and received over 8,000 'likes'. It attracted support from thousands of followers, including local Sami leader Paer Nilsson. Nilsson would later tell Norwegian news site NRK that onshore wind build-out - and the accompanying loss of grazing land - means "simply death" for indigenous people reliant on reindeer herding.
