In a world where viruses and hacker infiltrations are growing in number exponentially, it's vital that administrators keep their systems up to date with the latest security patches. The Windows Update Web site, located at www.windowsupdate.com, and the Automatic Updates service have made this task much easier; however, both require that systems have access to the Internet, which is, as you know, where the danger lies. Luckily, Microsoft's Software Update Services (SUS) can help you keep your systems secure and up to date at the same time by allowing you to download patches to systems without having them connected to the Internet, as shown in Figure A. Best of all, you can control which patches and fixes you download, and you can store these updates on your SUS server so they can be downloaded from there instead of the Internet.
