The Relationship Between Luminance Uniformity and Brightness Perception

摘要

Using psychophysical models to represent the relationship between brightness and luminance, the paper derives a simple formulation between brightness uniformity and luminance uniformity. It shows how luminance uniformity and luminance gradient affect the perception of brightness. It indicates how, at different luminance levels, brightness difference and luminance contrast are affected by luminance uniformity ratio. The paper also explains how luminance uniformity and brightness perception are related to frequency of maximum and minimum luminance. This paper provides some insight into the understanding and application of luminance uniformity ratio.
