In The historic part of Warsaw , Poland, more than 30m of clay pipe with a nominal diameter of 400mm recently needed replacing. Inspection of the mains by the Warsaw water and sewerage company showed sand on the bottom of the mains. The pipe was fractured, and debris was falling to the bottom of the pipe. The problem could have been confirmed by an internal pipe inspection. This could not take place as the camera was unable pass through the sand and other debris lying at the bottom of the pipe.
