In the UK, when we turn on the tap, we fully expect safe drinking water to be available immediately, pure and plentiful. But safe drinking water is regulated by the government and strictly controlled by water suppliers and even then, without the proper prevention techniques, dangerous situations have occurred when contaminants inadvertently enter our drinking supplies.
