IMP rigs remove rags and grit on site

Industrial & Municipal Projects (IMP), an environmental engineering and industrial servicing contractor, has added mobile grit and rag separation rigs to its range of services. The firm, bought recently by WM Tracey, offers services to clients in the water, construction, utility, transport and petro-chemical industries. These rigs can treat waste from digesters, pumping stations and grit channels on site. And they work through a process of separation that generates cost savings in landfill and carbon footprint of up to 90%. The grit and rag is removed from the effluent and deposited, dewatered, into skips. The treated effluent is pumped into the inlet works and the solids are removed to a landfill site. Disposal cost savings can be up to 90%. This heavy sludge waste is not treated on site and is taken to landfill (now banned) or to another treatment plant. IMP has implemented this treatment on several wastewater treatment sites.
