Worries over sewer transfer

WITH THE October 1 deadline fast approaching for the transfer of private sewers to the water companies, the SBWWI's Private Sewer Forum says there are still many uncertainties that could delay the transfer further. The water companies have issued letters and legal notices to customers, but according to the forum there are uncertainties including the Appeals Process against transfer of a private sewer; Manda tory Build Standards for new sewer construction; standards and training requirements for operators; and status of sewers upstream of those remaining private. The forum said the situation was "worrying at this late stage in the game".
