Protection for pumps

Any size of pump from 1kW to 15kW can be controlled and protected with the new multi-pump soft starter from motor control specialist Ralspeed. In temporary pumping installations in particular, this is an important benefit, as it means that it is no longer necessary to use a different soft starter for each size of pump.At the heart of the new multi-pump soft starters is a wide-range overload protection relay that is designed and manufactured by Ralspeed. This can be instantly set to match the size of the pump in use with a single rotary switch calibrated in kilowatts. The units incorporate a digital display showing the kilowatt rating selected, the instantaneous running current and the operational status of the soft starter. Also, the display stores historical information relating to the last eight trip conditions, which can be recalled at the touch of a button, enabling pump problems to be diagnosed quickly and easily.
