When a Lancashire town was made the subject of a multi-million-pound development project, there was an immediate need for building a new sewage works to supersede the existing network. In order to connect a new sewer to the prevailing system, a temporary diversion had to be created which required the contractor to find a way of maintaining flows while new manholes were constructed.
