Bollore Eyes LTE As WiMAX Falls Flat

Struggling French WiMAX operator, Bollore Telecom, has indi-ncated its desire to move to the LTE mobile broadband technology standard, after being warned by authorities that its licence could benrevoked unless it begins using its radio spectrum. Despite having annear-nationwide spectrum footprint, Bollore has been reluctant toncommit to WiMAX, viewing it as inadequate for its wireless broad-nband plans. However, with LTE being deployed by the country’s fournmobile network operators, BMI thinks Bollore and other WiMAXnlicensees may struggle to commercialise LTE services of their own.
