摘要

Europe's mobile network operators have long borne the brunt of EuropeannCommission plans to standardise rules and regulations governingnthe industry, to make it easier and affordable for all citizens to availnthe latest multimedia technology and services. Operators have alreadynseen core service revenues shrink rapidly, a trend largely attributed tonEU-mandated reductions to mobile call termination rates (MTRs) andninterconnection charges. The latest round of MTR cuts, for example, nled to sharp slumps in key operators' revenues, a development reflectednmost starkly in blended ARPU figures for Q113. Reportedly, the commissionnis poised to vote on the abolition of international call roamingncharges by mid-2014, a move that BMI believes will hit Europe's mobilenoperators hard and increase the pace of market reshapement in the nearnto medium term.
