Noaa/National Ocean Service recently released a new version of nowCOAST, a web GIS-based interactive mapping portal that provides centralized access to near-real-time weather and coastal observations and NOAA forecasts. rnNowCOAST serves as a planning tool for mariners, emergency and coastal managers, researchers, and the general rnpublic. With the new nowCOAST version, users can view warnings for short-duration weather events such as tornadoes. They can also access NOAA-gridded weather forecasts as far as 3 days out, as well as daily sea surface temperature analyses. rnNowCOAST users can also install the program's map viewer onto their Web browsers and receive instant updates on the weather.
