February began with great contrast across Alaska. In Southeast Alaska, numerous calendar day high temperature records were being set during the first week of February. During the same time, in the west, along the Bering Sea and Chukchi Sea coasts, new calendar day low temperature records were set. There were 40-below temperatures in the west at the same time southern Southeast Alaska temperatures made it into the lower 50s above.
