The TOWN award specifically noted your contribution to the national understanding of climate change. Explain the work you do in that area. I am very fortunate to be working with the Manila observatory because it has a very strong commitment to "applied" research in the sense that it's supposed to reach people. It's research that is meant to provide evidence for any options for addressing the problem of climate change-options for development, etc. So, aside from the hard-core research that we do, there's a lot of work with local communities. We have worked with urban poor communities in metro Manila, and for instance have a coastal cities at-risk project right now in metro Manila.
