摘要

September was not as extreme climate-wise in Alaska as earlier in 2016, though there were several notable storms to affect parts of the state. For the state as a whole, the average temperature was 1.6 degrees above the 20th-century average, ranking as the 27th warmest September in the past 92 years. The North Slope and parts of the Interior saw temperatures close to normal, while the Aleutians and western Gulf of Alaska coasts remained at near-record warm levels due in large part to continued far above normal sea surface temperatures in the Bering Sea and northeast Pacific. Parts of northern Alaska were quite wet in September, while the Southeast mainland and northern Panhandle were closer to normal.
