Huge crowds gathered at Gloucester Docks on 23rd October to welcome Her Majesty the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh arriving on board two Royal Navy patrol boats. The Queen was on the stem deck of HMS Express, accompanied by representatives of the Gloucester Heritage Urban Regeneration Company who were pointing out the changing face of Gloucester's waterfront.rnThe Duke followed behind on the bridge of HMS Exploit and, as the two vessels came through Llanthony Bridge into the main basin, the royal visitors were greeted by waving flags and loud cheers from the assembled crowd.
