Sometimes things are so much a 'fixture' that you hardly notice them until they change. And so it is with the British Waterways waterpoint. A familiar fixture since the 1980s, it is being phased out. The heavy iron sculpted pedestals are sturdy and look attractive. However, the swinging lever' style of tap was expensive to install, prone to dripping and tricky to maintain.
