Artificial reed beds are being installed along a section of the Limehouse Cut in London to help wildlife, attempting the slow transformation of a 'concrete gorge' into a green haven for waterfowl. The project is being supported by CRT's main dredging contractor. Land & Water, which is contributing £6,000 of materials and the manpower to install the reed beds. Natural England has also given a grant of £9,600. The work is taking place along 100 yards of the canal at Violet Road and heading south towards Limehouse Basin.
