Obituary: Tony Harrison, 1935 - 2014

The IWA has paid tribute to Tony Harrison, former IWA consultant engineer and trustee of the association, who died on 31st July, aged 79. An IWA member for well over 50 years, he was one of the early supporters who canoed on the south Stratford Canal when it was threatened with abandonment. Graduating in hydraulics, he worked at the Wallingford Hydraulics Research Station. At the time he was a member of the IWA Oxfordshire branch, eventually becoming its chairman. Later, he developed best practice for civil contract administration at the Building Research Establishment.
