Weaver Society celebrates first Winsford Salt Regatta

On the weekend of 19th-21st September around 40 craft made the trip up the River Weaver to celebrate the first-ever boat rally in a 'Salt Regatta' at Winsford Bottom Flash. The event coincided with the town's annual Salt Fair. Created over a century ago from salt extraction, the Flash is now a picturesque 90-acre sailing lake. It has not officially been open to canal and river boats because the Canal & River Trust's navigational writ ends before the entrance at Blue Bridge.
