摘要

The Nancy Oldfield Trust boating charity, which offers disabled and disadvantaged people the chance to go boating on the Broads, has been selected as the UK National Parks Volunteer Group of the Year. In the same week, it was also presented with the inaugural Martin Broom Trophy in recognition of its long record of providing sailing opportunities for the disabled. The Martin Broom Trophy was instituted by the Norfolk & Suffolk Boating Association in memory of "a wise, tireless and unassuming worker for boating on the Broads". The National Parks award comes with a bursary of £1,000, which the Trust manager Stephen Bradnock said the volunteers will decide how to spend. Based at Neatishead near Wroxham, the Nancy Oldfield Trust has 65 trained volunteers, operating eight sailing boats, three accessible motor cruisers and rafted Canadian canoes, and welcomes over 6,000 visitors a year.
