EXPERTS' CONFERENCE RESOLVES: GEAR UP SUSTAINABIUTY VIA CULTURAL SHIFT

Australia needs a major cultural change to progress on the sustainabiiity pathway, according to industry experts at Enviro08 which was held in Melbourne last month, the largest ever multi-disciplinary sustainabiiity conference to be held in Australia. More than 1,000 sustainabiiity practitioners from business, consulting and academia in the disciplines of water, waste, energy and environment agreed that Australians still need to make a culture shift to see real positive environmental outcomes. This finding was the primary outcome of a facilitated dialogue and interactive voting session held at the conference. "The professionals doing the daily grind of environmental sustainabiiity - whether they are in corporate HQs, councils, research labs, or mine sites - have a very clear view: Australian society needs to change the way it lives, works and plays if it is to stand a chance in sustainabiiity," Max Spedding, Enviro 08's Chairman said.
