AWA Attracting Skills to the Australian Water Sector

The Australian Water Association (AWA) has taken the lead in the predicted skills shortage by forming and managing senior strategic committees and delivering program solutions. AWA is the secretariat for the national Water Industry Skills Taskforce (WIST), which is chaired by AWA Chief Executive Tom Mollenkopf. The Taskforce, whose role is to promote and oversee a nationally coordinated effort to address the skills shortage in the water sector, comprises senior Government representatives, along with CEOs from private and public organisations. The biggest success of the group to date is its involvement with and support of the COAG National Water Skills Strategy, which it approved alongside the National Water Commission in October.
