Due to the nature of their functions, wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) and wastewater collection systems (sewers) generate varying concentrations of odorous gases. The complete containment of these odorous gases has never been easy, mainly because containment is difficult to quantify and subject to ever changing conditions like wind. Moreover, odour containment covers inevitably have openings for access requirements and instrumentation, but also because of wear and tear over time and, sometimes, poor installation due to the lack of quality control.
