The immediate impact of the hurricane, known as Katrina, on the Gulf coast of America was dramatic and immediately obvious. But hard lessons on managing essential wastewater infrastructure and operations through such dire events are still being learnt, as horrific images of New Orleaners stranded by flood waters fade from memory.
