An alternative filtration process for sludge separation

At the Institute for Environtnental Biotechnology at IFA-Tulln, an applied research centre in Austria, a new process is under investigation that can bring a significant stimulus to membrane bioreactor (MBR) development.rnMBR technology has lately attracted significant attention as an improved wastewater treatment process offering significant advantages in terms of a reduced footprint as well as a superior effluent quality. However the higher energy demand compared to standard processes is still a major hindrance for more widespread applications.
