Montreal's plans for a potable overhaul

The island city of Montreal in Canada is undertaking a massive CAN$10 billion ($9.1 billion) programme that is effectively a full rethink of how to maintain and improve the quality of its potable water production and distribution.rnMontreal, home to over 1.6 million people, produces on average around 2M.m3 of drinking water each day. The city has seven treatment works with a top capacity of 2.9M.mYday, 14 reservoirs, nine booster stations and 740km of mains from 150mm to 2750mm diameter, as well as around 1900 principal valves and associated infrastructure.
