Buckman Direct Diversion Project diverts Rio Grande water forthe first time

1.CH2M HILL, with its joint venture partner Western Summit Constructors, have been the design-build team for the Buckman Direct Diversion Project (BDD), Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA, since March 2008. On 30 September, water was diverted for the first time from the Rio Grande and pumped 11 miles (17.6km) and 1100 vertical feet (330m) up to the Buckman Regional Water Treatment Plant (BRWTP). Rebecca Wurzburger, Chair of the BDD Project Board, said: 'This is truly a historic event on our journey to provide the Santa Fe region with a sustainable source of water. In a few short months, we will begin delivering quality drinking water to over 100,000 city and county water customers.'
