A compact future for membrane design: investing in high output long-term treatment

Lakeview Water Treatment Plant in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, is a typical example of a treatment plant having to expand production to meet its growing population of between 300,000 and 400,000 users. With space to expand limited by the town of Mississauga, located on the west coast of Lake Ontario, an advanced solution was required to increase capacity. The chosen solution is the initial installation of 12 Zenon Zee Weed 1000 ultrafiltration (UF) membrane process trains, to increase capacity of the old plant from 363MLD to 400MLD, and the additional installation of 14 ZeeWeed 1000 process trains in a new building on-site which will provide an extra 400MLD. Phase I, the expansion of the original plant,began operation in 2007.
