Krohne releases SMARTSENS analytical sensors

Krohne has introduced SMART-SENS, a series of two-wire loop powered analytical sensors that, according to the company, significantly reduce the risk of failures along the chain from sensor to process control system. The first in the series include sensors for pH, oxidation reduction potential and conductivity. Previously, analytical sensors have required an external (proprietary) transmitter on site that translates the sensor signals to the process control system.The transmitter represents the main source of error under IEC (information, education and communication) requirements, such as false installation, cabling or configura- tion of the transmitter, says Krohne. In order to eliminate these risks, Krohne has miniaturized the transmitter and fitted it into the sensor head.
