IWA Task Force on Water and Sanitation as a Human Right

On 3 August 2010 the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted a resolution on 'the human right to water and sanitation'. The resolution: 'Recognises the right to safe and clean drinking water and sanitation as a human right that is essential for the full enjoyment of life and all human rights.' The resolution was accompanied by the report of the independent expert on human rights obligations related to safe drinking water and sanitation. This report gave a number of 'elements' which have to be addressed in implementing the resolution.
