Smart control and integration: a new age of network management

'Smart water' is a term used to refer to the use of data and IT technologies in water networks to make them more efficient and more sustainable. It also applies to greater integration with other systems - water and energy, as the prime example - to provide all-round benefits. Accounting for lost water is, of course, a key aspect of data acquisition for most water utilities around the world. Market analyst Frost & Sullivan's Global Research Director, Environment (Water) Markets, Frederick Royan, who will be speaking at the upcoming European Utility Week in November in Amsterdam as part of the Smart Water track co-organised by IWA, says the 'smart' agenda is exciting a great deal of interest among utilities.
