Water conservation measures: incentives and enforcement

The increase in water demand, and potential shortfall of supply, has led to the development of water conservation measures. Through a number of CIRIA projects, in particular Research Project 577 Buildings That Save Water, it has become apparent that there is not a broad uptake of such measures in the UK, despite various promotional campaigns by, for example, water utilities and environmental regulators. This workshop aimed to identify the barriers which inhibit water conservation measures being taken further forward and how the current situation may be improved to encourage the uptake of water conservation measures.
