Water and waste water policy in Romania

The european union's current environmental policy is set out in the Treaties of the European Community, and is included in a number of directives issued particularly in relation thereto. The aim of the European Community policy is to achieve a sustainable infrastructure in relation to water and wastewater management by the inclusion in accession countries of European environmental protection sectorial policies; preventative measures in relation to the use and management of water and water resources; the adoption of the doctrine that a "polluter pays" for the pollution that they have caused; by combating environmental pollution at source; and by shared responsibilities.
