Although the institution of the European Union generally have the most impact on Europe's water industry, other international organisations also have significant influence―especially those bodies concerned with water shortages in areas bordering the EU, such as north Africa and the Middle East, where efforts to guarantee supplies for the future will create commercial opportunities for European companies.
